Biography: Courtny Wiggs grew up in the Bronx, NY, where she developed a strong appreciation for curiosity and discovery—values that continue to shape her approach to both life and learning. After graduating from Aquinas High School, she cultivated interests in solving problems, observing patterns, and transforming data into meaningful information.

Beyond academics and professional pursuits, Courtny enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to audiobooks, and watching television shows with themes of mystery, science fiction, and fantasy. She also holds a passing interest in anthropology, sociology, and psychology, which fuels her love for exploring the world and understanding people through history and culture.

Her decision to pursue a PhD in Data Science at UNC Charlotte stems from a passion for using data to solve complex problems and create meaningful impact in health care delivery, particularly within historically underrepresented communities. Having earned her graduate degree in Health Informatics at UNC Charlotte, Courtny developed a deep fondness for the university and its community. She is honored to return to the institution to pursue her lifelong personal and professional goal of earning a doctoral degree.
