Tuition and Funding

The University of North Carolina Board of Governors establishes the tuition and fee structure for the program during the spring of the prior academic year. The cost of attendance varies each semester and is contingent on a student’s enrollment (full or part-time), residency status, and associated university and program fees. The matrix below is an estimated cost for the Data Science Ph.D. program and assumes that
students are enrolled in the traditional campus program. It does not include cost of housing, food, healthcare, and transportation. General information regarding UNC Charlotte’s graduate tuition and fees can be found on the Niner Central website.

International Students

The International Student Scholars Office (ISSO) develops an annual estimate of costs for a non-resident, a full-time enrolled student in the Data Science & Business Analytics program. A detailed breakdown for the 2024-2025 academic year.

North Carolina Residency

The state subsidizes the cost of tuition for students whose legal residence is in North Carolina. Residency determination for graduate students at UNC Charlotte is centralized at the statewide North Carolina Residency Determination Service (RDS) rather than determined locally by campus officials. New applicants claiming NC Residency and currently enrolled students who wish to apply for in-state residency for tuition purposes will be required to do so through the RDS. Additional information on North Carolina resident status for tuition purposes.
