Data Science

Biography: Bedilu grew up in Ethiopia, where he worked as a Public Health Officer and later as a Physician (general practitioner), which gave him a firsthand view of the challenges both patients and physicians face when critical decisions rely on limited information. After moving to the United States, his work in the health insurance industry revealed another side of healthcare; how data, when used wisely, can shape access, quality, and equity. These experiences inspired him to pursue MS in Health Informatics and later a PhD in Data Science at UNC Charlotte, where he aims to bridge medicine and analytics. What excites him most is the potential of artificial intelligence to power clinical decision support systems that not only guide doctors in complex diagnoses, but also give patients a better chance at healthier lives.
