Biography: Ricardo (Rony) Reyes is a PhD student in Data Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He brings over 20 years of experience applying data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to large-scale problems in financial services, risk management, and fraud prevention.
Ricardo is a Data Science Director at Bank of America, where his team leads the design and deployment of enterprise risk models supporting fraud detection, regulatory compliance, etc. across North America, Europe, and Asia.
His academic training includes master’s degrees in Computer Science and Analytics from Georgia Tech, an MSc in Statistics from NC State University, and bachelor’s degrees in Actuarial Science and Mathematics from UNAM (Mexico). His research interests span applied machine learning, statistical modeling, explainable AI, and the intersection of data science with financial decision-making.
